The Vallespir is a green, wooded valley, bordered by the majestic slopes of the Canigou massif to the south and the Albères massif. It stretches for around thirty kilometers from the source of the Tech River to Céret, the charming town nicknamed the "gateway to the Vallespir," where the Roussillon plain meets the mountains.
This tranquil valley stretches all the way to the Spanish border, winding along the ridges of the Albères mountains. Relatively isolated, it is accessible via the RD 115, a peaceful road running along the Tech, which also offers a link to Spain (Camprodon) via the Col d'Ares. Compared to busier routes like the Col du Perthus or the Cerdagne, this road invites a peaceful exploration.
The main towns and villages of Vallespir, such as Amélie-les-Bains, Palalda, Arles-sur-Tech, Le Tech and Prats-de-Mollo-La-Preste, are scattered along this route. But don't miss the hilltop villages of the Albères, such as Saint-Laurent-de-Cerdans, Serralongue and Lamanère, or those nestled in the foothills of Canigou: Montferrer, Corsavy and Montbolo.
